From the KCBS board - "Due to the recent E. Coli outbreak there has been a temporary ban on all garnish and meat in the turn in box to protect the health of judges and cooks. Judging will be based on the Appearance criteria only."

HA! Unfortunately I think I turned the brisket box in instead of the chicken box but I'm still not sure.

I would give it a six. The lid is not opened enough and the angle of the box where it is sitting does not show it off properly. Farken pompus arse judges!

KCBS Comment Card
6 Not enough greens in the box. Box appears too white.

this in direct violation of your rules? Greens (aka. garnishment) are not to be taken into account. Only meat is to be judged.

Actually my card was just the opposite
6 9 9 Too many greens in the box Cicken touched top and left sauce stain If it hadn't it would've been a 9 I brought it to the KCBS. They said they would talk to the judge. Although thhe difference between a 6 and 9 was the difference between a 5th place pay and a 6th place ribbon.

the top; we're judging the meat [not the top of the box]) nor that you probably had too many greens underneath should've factored into it. My point to this simply is that this is a BBQ contest, and all of us (I think) want the best BBQ to win. When we allow other factors into the equasion (ala. garnish), it now becomes part of it. That I know of, we have 4 categories of BBQ meat...
