Only reason I wouldnt is learn your smoker. Putting it togther myself I know how it was assembled. Other than someone else just assembling and does not care how you cook.

I agree with Ashmont. If I assemble it, I'll take my time, and enjoy the process. I've also been known to change out hardware and modify as I saw fit.

The knuckeheads working the the BBQ dept at big box stores don't know a thing about BBQ, they just know stock numbers, and where to put them.
I've tried discussing the merits of their different smokers with several of those folks. They just get that deer in the headlights look.
