Meat Question
I was in Costco yesterday and I saw this big ole hunk of beef they called Round Tip....never heard that term before and is it good piece of meat to smoke?
P.S. I am on the road to being a farker....I'm a bit emotional right now. Dan |

yeah it's a good chunk but they can get dry. makes good sammie meat.

It is similar to the tri-tip, but not quite as tough...In my experience, it is going to have a little of that that "pot roast" taste almost no mater what you do. It is best when braised or slow cooked in a crock pot, but I did smoke one once, and it came out decent. As it does not have a very high fat content, I would consider injecting it to retain moisture. All meat good to smoke . If you take your time most meat will come out ok.

Thanks guys.....I was just wondering if it was a fatty enough piece of meat to get a good finished product. Seems like I will have to give it some smoke and then finish it off with some sort of braising method....I didn't buy it yet, I've just seen it at Costco quite a few times and wondered if it was worth it.
