Default temp. controller for my uga-ly drum smoker

I made use of some junk i had laying around here . took a fan out of an old computer , cut 3 pieces of plexiglass to finish boxing in to make the shroud, epoxied it all together alone with a 3/4 copper fitting 12volt dc fan complete. Had a ac/dc adapter with 12v . output , bought a pid controller for 44.00 . Once i got it all set , it's amazing to watch it chase the temp. around when you set it to auto tune. loaded 16.6 bag of kingsford briq. at 11am , put a rack of babybacks on at 12:30 took off at 6:30 left it burning ,temp at 11pm was still 225 ( set@ 250 desired)but it rained for an hour or so,probably had some effect on temp.

very worthy of a UDS, good Job.

After, making my Heatermeter(Arduino+linksys router). I started with a 6.5cfm blower and found that it would not blow enough. You might want to ditch the fan and get a more powerful blower.

I am now very satified with a BFB1012HH 1.5amp 15 watts 34.7 max CFM, Ebay for 10 dollars.

I can close the ball valve down and it will push alot of air into the UDS.

Dude I spent all weekend think about how to do the exact same thing ! Thanks for the ideas, temp control on my UDS sucks !! And before the lords of UDS tell me the obvious yes I have looked high and low and can not find any air leaks, it does not seem to matter how I set my intake so it has to be getting air from somewhere I just cant figure out where. Keep smokin, Stan
