Default 500 pounds of pork butts

Well, just got my order of 500 pounds of pork butts that I'll be smoking up tomorrow, and pulling. Just alittle precook for a wedding reception and 3 relay for life events. Gonna see if I can get it all on my 6' southern yankee,, if not I'll have to fire up the meadow creek PR60 along side the southern yankee, I'll post some pics once everything gets loaded up, Never done that much at once, should be interesting seeing all that meat smoking at once,, woo-hoo.

Sounds like a great cook coming! Might want to fire up the Meadow Creek for air flow issues.

Just be aware that the characteristics of your smoker will change with all of that meat cooking. Therefore don't assume that your timing will be the same.

That said, enjoy the cook!

Thats sounds like fun. I've helped Pigs on The Run do over 50 butts for a charity, and its a sight to behold when 50 or so butts roll off the Lang. Good luck, and Ihope you have plenty of help, and good weather. I love this stuff.

5 hours into the big cook, and all is well, decided to not even try putting them all on the southern yankee, didn't want to crowd it, So I did 7 butts per shelf, which gave me 42 on the SY, and then I put 16 more on the meadow creek PR. Both are holding rock steady at 225, wonderful smell of hickory in the air,, don't get much better.

Only got a few pics,,, battery crapped out on me... but we did indeed cook 500 pounds of pork butts, and I'll get pics posted tomorrow, I'm about to head out to work, Unfortunately, we didn't yield as much as normal when doing butts, and am still 40 pounds of cooked meat short for what I need, so once again, I'll be doing some butts tomorrow to finish it off. We had 58 butts all together, and they were all pulled by hand, and there was 3 of us working on it, Went real well, and again, a few pics were taken, wil be up later,,,
