I did think about this some. The main reason I did not was I was able to get the gate valve for free at work, pulled it out of the scarp pile. I am finishing up a masters and will be graduating in December, since this is a Christmas present, I really had to get it done since all of my free time will be disappearing once I start writing my Thesis.

I am sure I will attempt to make one for my barrel. I will try to finish up mine this weekend. I will put a gate valve on it for now but will most likely switch to a BGE style intake like you recommended when I get some free time again.

Fired it up on sunday and cooked a fattie and some ribs. No pictures because it was raining and i was to lazy to take them. It worked really nice. We will be cooking the thanksgiving turkey on it. Will have to start doing some research now on the best way to do a turkey in it.
