Default Chery Plum Wood

I had what I think is a cherry plum tree go down in my yard. It's not fruit bearing. Has anybody cooked with this and can anybody verify the tree I'd?

Thanks,

I can't verify, but yes you can cook with ornamental and non fruit bearing varieties of fruit wood.

Before using strange wood for a long cook I grill burger patties to see if I like the taste.

Flowering plum. It makes a decent smoking wood, I called it my "utility grade" wood. It's perfect for getting your smoker up to temp. In my opinion it wasnt as tasty as some of my other favoraites like cherry, oak, apple, hickory, etc.
