I had a great time meet you guys. Wish I could have stayed. Next year for sure I'll be able to be there all day and bring out one of my smokers. Thanks Ron for setting everything up and for the coffee. Looking forward to meeting more of you guys at the winter lunch.

I did a Mexican Street Corn topping that went on the sweet corn that I brought out. People were asking for the recipe so here is what I did.

2 cups sour cream
2 cups mayo
3-4 cups feta cheese
Mo' Rub to taste.

In place of the Mo' Rub you can use what ever spice combination you would like.
The first batch I made had granulated garlic, chili powder and coriander. It did call for fresh cilantro, but I didn't have any.
You can probably use your favorite rub in this also.

This can also be used as a dressing for a salad with fresh vegetables.

I forgot to ask this of all that got a dime bag of Mo'Rub. Let me know what you think of it. If you are on Facebook please post on their page if you like it. They would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Great looking grub there!

For everyone that is afraid to come to a Bash: Just come out.

I was like you. I was going to meet Moose and BigMista and gtr, and SoCalJWS and Campdude, and Silverfinger, and I felt that my cooking wasn't on par, and they'd talk about me.

That didn't happen.

Instead, I met some wonderful people who, over the last few years, have prayed with me, offered me advice, shot the breeze and the sh*t with me, shared recipes and their lives, and welcomed my wife as one of the brers (even before the lemon bar affair).

Sako, Scott, Tom, Mike, Charles, Gordon, LC, and CaseyDog and the others my addled brain is forgetting- I did not forget you; I just met you later.

If you don't want to cook, bring some liquids. I saw ShoChu (The Japanese version of Soju, a Korean whiskey made with sweet potatoes), Malort (and I'm just going to have to order a bottle from Liquor Barn), and some others. Beer, wine, water, and soft drinks are always welcomed.

What I am saying is, the only reason not to go is because you have a prior engagement or an emergency. When you miss a bash, you miss out on connecting with your fellow brother or sister. That's something this country needs to be better at doing.

That looks amazing! Where can you get banana ketchup?

Changes:
I did not use the dipping sauce which we only make occassionally.
I also did not baste with the banana ketchup/sesame oil combination, I'm just not a fan.
We had straight marinaded pork sticks, thats all.
For an 8# pork butt which was near 6# after removing the bone, which is what this recipe calls for, the measurements were too much. You could halve this recipe and it would still be plenty. I went by the recipe but cut the brown sugar and only 1/2 a 2liter 7up and it was still way too much.

Enjoy

Perfect answer, my wife and I brought 2 homemade pies the first time we went. Wasn’t sure what to do and had to feel things out. Had such an awesome time that we never miss a get together now. It’s great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Coming is way more important than cooking, there is always lots of food left over. And you get to try Neotrouts beer and Andy’s Malort

An Asian or Filipino grocery store would have it.

Smokin John is correct, but also our larger chains have an Asian/Ethnic aisle you can find it.

Again, the pictures above did NOT use the banana ketchup/sesame sauce to baste so you can recreate the above quite easily without it.

Banana ketchup is an acquired taste. Heavy sesame is an acquired taste. Recipe calls for mixing of the two, which I did, but tossed it as it was unpalatable

Good luck though in testing the recipe to make it your own!

I'm still waiting for that Cool Tee Shirt we talked about at the SoCal Bash. I will reciprocate.
