One of those perfect days.

Wandered out into the lair of the nefarious Mahi and his evil confederates. Around 6 miles off the coast of Palm Beach I grappled with my foe in a battle between life and death. Okay, it was life for me. Before the titanic struggle was at it's end, 5 more of his buddies met the same fate.......

Dinner on my Char Griller Akorn Kamado :biggrin1:

Nice catch! Bet that was fun to bring in. :-D

Cut the rest off somehow.

Off the boat, it was filleted, a little EVO along with a dusting of Dizzy Pig Raging River and then onto the Akorn at volcano status.

Grill marks were great but a smidge of the heavy side of taste. Probably will back the temp down to Fukashima level next time.

Still far better than what I've had in a restaurant in a long time.

We call them Dolphin out of the Singer Island inlet.Nice catch and did you keep her in the water for the rest of her crew to follow? That is the best size for flavor.

I know, I went for the hipster definition.:biggrin1:

I call it Dolphin too, live near you in North Palm, go out of Lake Worth Inlet.

First one was a solo. Trolled to naked ballyhoos. Worked the same area for a little while longer and found his buddies. Boated one and left the other in the water. Worked like a charm. They were hungry and diving on my cut bait on a circle hook under my spinner reel.

Was by myself, to it was a Chinese fire drill. Caught 6, tossed 1 back that was too small.

Dolphin Fish, Mahi, Dorado All the same thing and great to eat. Nice catch.

When they are that young they sometimes have not matted for life as what is normal for Dolphins. We caught 13 one time in 690 feet of water while deep dropping for golden tile.We got big goldens and all the dolphins the four of us could eat. Will never forget that day.Kinda reminds me of the day we were out for Cobias...........100 feet of water off of Palm Beach, Me and my bro-in-law. in a 30 ft.Twin Vee CAT. I get hit on DOA sardine and not 5 seconds later he gets hit.30 or so minutes later it`s an 8 foot shark with both our baits in his mouth. We cut our lines and several beers later the shark grew to over 12 feet.Thats our story and we are sticking to it.

Mahi is one of those fish that is really easy to make a great meal out of... Right up there with wahoo. Your meal looks tasty! A few min on the grill with lemon, and light seasoning of choice is my go to method.

nice fish. they sure make great eats. I caught one in mexico when I was 12. I used my hands to bring it in as I had no idea how to use a pole. I did know how to use my hands for fishing. impressed the heck out of the Mexican crew.

Beautiful fish! A while back, I went deep sea fishing in Hawaii and hoped like mad to get one of these, but just wound up with tuna.
