Thumbs up Cast Iron Cooking Appreciation Thread! Post your creations here!

Recently, I've noticed a spike in the number of threads and questions about cooking with Dutch Ovens and about the benefits, versatilty, and care that is needed for Cast Iron cookware. Personally, I cannot live without my DO's, my Lodge Sportsman Grill, my griddles and skillets. I've seen many of you find, rescue, and restore rusty old CI pieces and give them new life again. I also know that there are many members here with an extensive knowledge about everything CI. I think it's time to dedicate a thread to this type of cooking and equipment. I'll start out by sharing some on my experiences with CI!

Here are a few things I've cooked in my keg using cast iron cookware.

Nothing Cooking but here is part of my collection. I have added a few since these pictures. Recently picked up a square frying pan too.

I may need to pull them all out for another reunion.

Pulled Beef, Mushroom & Onion over biscuits

This cook was for an entry in a previous Chuckie Throwdown, it came out quite tasty if I say so myself.

Decided to use Santa Maria seasoning to start.

On the Sm BGE...

Here we are a few hours in, but what to do with it.....

Almost done...

Put some Mushroom & onions seasoned with Plowboys Bovine Bold on the Lg BGE

Cooked them down a bit.

Added the jus from the beef

Pull the beef

Put the biscuits on

Add the beef to the mushrooms & onions

Biscuits are done.

Doesn't look fabulous, but this was awesome!

I have not had the time to set up one of these but for those of you that are into building stuff here's a link to a homemade electrolysis tub(?) to clean the rust off yer CI

http://www.wag-society.org/Electrolysis/electros_3.php

And an interesting read about seasoning your pan. I know some of you use whatever but the explanation struck me as interesting.
