Default What to do in Boston, MA during 4th of July Weekend?

What's good that weekend? Outside chance I may be able to join the wife for a Conference she's attending. Don't have any specifics, yet, still needs board approval. I've so far found the HarborFest, will DEFINITELY be seeing a Red Sox game, the play the O's, that weekend. Any other good festivals, parties, etc in the area that weekend?

Bars, restaurants, must see's and do's or maybe any Q competitons going on in the area?

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob, Richard here. There is much. Bars. Pick a type. Right by Fenway Pahk is The Boston Beer Works. Micro brewery. Good stuff. Fire works on the Esplanade with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Museum of Science for the kids. Are they coming too? Some great restaurants. Q? Not so much. There is a cook off in June, one in August and one in Sept. That's all I know about. I for one am just 23 miles outside the city, mayhaps we could meet up? Send me a PM if you'd like.

We will arrive on the 2nd, and leave on the 6th. So anything on the 3rd-5th is good. Kids will not be going with us. Maybe we can organize some drinks somewhere on one of those nights with other area Brethren! A lot will depend on wife's conference schedule. She's "required" to attend all day, everyday.........Guess I'll just hafta do some walking and hole up inside a bar somewhere till she's done with each days sessions!!!

I'm thinking a Sox game on Sunday, then fireworks somewhere afterward. Will know in the next few weeks or so if it's a done deal or not.

Thanks,

Bob

Good Luck on getting tickets, I had to buy them from E-bay when I was there... There is a lot to do in Boston, it is my favorite East Coast town. Check out the Freedom Trail and the U.S.S. Constitution...

Isn't there some kind of tall ship parade in Baston that weekend? Salam isn't far for some witch hunting. Best thing to do in Boston is stuff yourself to near death with seafood. Musemes are awesome as well.

Boston is a good walking city, most of the stuff to do is in close walking distance of each other, faneuil hall is a great place to check out for food and all the tourist stuff that you will need to pick up, will be packed over July 4th, something about going to historic places at that time of the year. Great city but be prepared for the heat and humity, the two of them together are alot worse than either one alone. also need to be prepared for it to be colder than you expect, and rain, if it is a clod rain just be prepared, weather can vary from cold rain to stupd hazy hot and humid.

Single game tickets for that month go on sale at the end of January. If I don't know by then, I'll hafta find a way to get in. Ebay's an option.
As far as seafood goes............we plan to do just that...........stuff ourselves.

The weather there will be a break from the dry 100+ scorchers we will be having here. Besides, the weather is always great inside a bar, RIGHT? :)

Keep em coming!! That is one BIG tea party,,,,,,,,,,,,,SMOKE ON!!!

Bob, it's been 30 years since I was in Boston for Independence Day, but it was a blast and I remember it like it was just yesterday!

Did some of the things mentioned above.

Fireworks and Boston Pops concert on the Esplanade - Great!

Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market - Great! We ate and drank our way through that place.

Many bars after that, but I don't remember them so clearly.

Spent the bicentennial in Boston when I was 19. Everybody said I had a good time.

Been back many times, since former employer was located there. My ex-boss lived in North Andover.

Always something to see and do, either in the city or get a car and head north. Wife discovered Kittery, Maine and nearly melted her credit card.

School Counselors Convention...........probably the reason why not many counselors have signed up to go. Bad choice in dates. Not so much for us though. A weekend with no kids sounds like heaven to us!!

The Fireworks and Boston Pops are not to be missed. Just make sure to get there early, and if you are relying on the "T" to get back to where you are going, boogie out of the park. Otherwise, you'll be hopping a cab.

One of my favorite seafood joints is The Barking Crab. www.barkingcrab.com

Great place. Enjoy your trip.

If you are into old cars and hot rods, the weekend of the 4th is "The Summer Nationals". It's actually in Worcester (you can go visit Dr. Gonzo at the same time). Here is the link to last years. http://www.summernationals.com/index2.html
Its been a few years since I've been, but when I lived in MA I would go every year.
