I am thinking of buying one of these and was excited about the charcoal storage. However, it appears it doesn't come with a lid for the charcoal bin. It looks like it would be covered from direct rainfall.

Has anyone experienced their lump or other fuel getting wet?

Not at all. The charcoal stays nice and dry. I would also invest in the Performer cover...the premium one and keep it covered when not in use.

It stays dry, I don't use mine for charcoal, I use it to store chips and chunks and assorted bbq odds and ends.

No, the bin folds under very nicely. Never an issue.

I also recommend the cover.

Nothing to worry about. The charcoal storage bin pivots at the bottom and when closed is covered by the prep table. I also think that a plus to this is air circulation aound the coals. If you purchase the cover that covers the whole grill you have nothing to worry about. :thumb:
