For you Iowa boys... I'd check with Clone. He used to know of a place in the DSM area that could get Honda's real cheap...

lighting fluorescent - 180 (inside)
FEC - 600 start up (not sure what it will take just to run the fan and auger - plus we can start very easy manually)
CS - 550 start up (not sure what it will take just to run the fan and wheel)
water heater - 1500
And we'll have a guru and radio (both should be minimal draws)

So far - 5247 watts

Now we can always shut off the air when we start up the FEC, CS or need hot water, but it's not real doable to shut off the air so the refridge or freezer can kick on when needed.

So at any given time we will need 3097 watts (a/c, refridge, lights and an estimated 500 watts to run other things.

Sounds like two 2000's ported together should do the trick. Just need to turn A/C off if we need to power up some hot water or automatically start one of the pellet poopers.

Bob you have seen my setup and I have a 3000 and it works fine with air, fridge, and FEC but for the difference in price get two 2000s they will be a lot easier to lug around and there will be times when you will only need one. Just my .02

The FEC is 400w when the ignitor is on (the first couple of minutes) and under 100w (actually about 50w) after that.

Thanks Ron. I'm trying to remember if I could start the CS without using the ignitor or if the ignitor automatically goes on when I hit power. Yeah, I don't use that smoker often.

yes you can, I had to replace the ignitor and just didn't get around to it for months, just used gel and some pellets to get it started.

Smitty's in olathe, I think still matches any price on a Honda, and fills it up with gas, make sure it runs, fills out the warrenty cards, and hooks up the "home link (thingy that hooks up the two together and gives you a 30 amp outlet)"

Found a generator at Tractor Supply - Champion 3500 - for less than $300. But, specs say dB is 68. Is that too loud at a comp? I don't want to make anyone mad for extra noise.

"3,500 running watts and up to 4,000 peak watts of power with a run time of 12 hours at 50% load from a 4-gallon fuel tank. With a noise level of 68dB it's quiet, only 8dB above normal conversation. Receptacles include 30 amp 120 volt AC twistlock, one 30-amp 120-volt RV receptacle, a 20-amp 120-volt duplex. Push-to-reset circuit breakers. Single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with recoil start and low-oil shut-off. 1"-diameter tubular steel frame. Includes oil funnel, spark arrester and sparkplug wrench.
Dimensions: 23-1/4"L x 17-1/2"W x 17-1/4"H.
Weight: 100 lbs. "

Score!
Found a Honda EU3000is and bought it. Could this be hooked up parallel with a EU2000 or does it need to be ported with the same model?

Too damn cold to get a pic.

According to Honda's website, you can only hook up same wattage generators. 2-EU1000's, 2-EU2000's, or 2-EU3000's.

I think there are some guys that have built a box to go around theirs, to help muffle noise, but maybe I'm dreaming
