You are my new hero for saving a bandera. My biggest regret in life is the day I gave mine away when I moved. Enjoy many hours with it.

I miss my 'Dera!
That mottled paint effect is entirely due to the paint you are using. Remember well what kind it is and never ever buy it again. What I found that works well is Krylon Tough Coat, which comes in both flat black and hi-temp flat black. It covers great. Just plain good quality paint. I tried all the hardware store hi-temp blacks and none of them worked worth a dang. So I went to an industrial paint instead. seattlepitboss |

Finally got around to doing the shelf. Used the wood from an old Water bed frame I had laying around. On the cheap used some paint left overs. Hope the shelf does not get to hot and peel the paint. If it does I'll just do it again.

I am a complete novice at this smoker stuff but have purchased a New Braunfuls Smoker at a yard sale and am in the process of re-doing it. I'm using hi-temp engine paintto re-finish my project. If I could figure out how to do it I would post some pic's for your perusal.I work on it an houror two in the evening after work so is pretty slow going so far.I think it will be a thing to behold when I'm allfinished with it.

This is an old thread, 1st one that I have gotten the "Old Thread Warning" Whatever that is there for. I just realized something (a little late on this one) and I am feeling I did not give credit to the importance of this project. G$ a long time Brethren here gave me this cooker. I had not even mentioned this in this post.
I was so wrapped up in the project I failed to acknowledge the reason I was even able to do this. So, I do thank you G$ for your generosity!!! Another Pm on the way...

Very nice, looks like its going to be a great smoker.
Are you going to have your friend (the tinmaker) make you a water tray to sit in the bottom of the smoking chamber? Or are you just going to use alum pan ? Lets see some pron now.

I had forgotten all about this.
I was just trying to remember what I had done with the old Bandera. Now I remember it all. Good times. |
