Last summer I got this Ranch Kettle on CL for $40 here's a past post that led me to getting this grill The Find
When I looked at it, it was in ruff shape he wanted 50 I offered 40 Well this week I started cleaning it up .... sanded down
All the leg supports were reinforced so I didn't have to do that
Bottom redone with pics of bottom grate shinny and sides repainted
The top done and side views
I need to replace the handels (decideing between mahogany, oak & cedar) and, put one on the front (its missing). But I think she's looking a lot better & will have someone looking after her..... need to name it ..... thinking Lucky Girl .... just cuz she was on her last legs

Looking good, too bad it was so neglected that the pitting occured, You are doing a good job though. May I suggest you also consider teak, it is heavy duty, takes heat and is more resistant to rot and wear.

Bless you. That model is a TRUE classic.I have a newer one and they are awesome.I cooked 30 lbs. of chicken quarters on mine last Saturday.Indirect.Yep,at one time.:-D Lotta real estate on that baby!!!

A classic indeed! Is there a date stamp on the daisy wheel? Sure have changed over the years.

looks real good--ever since watching Jack McDavid thought the ranch kettles were way cool

Thanx everyone, it was a great deal and too cool to pass by....

Its date stamp is A, 1979....

It is a Classic! Throw some flames on that paint job.
True, but instead of flames I'm thinking Packer green if the paint holds up I'm making it into a Packer grill....:-D

Way cool Ken. Nice job on the refurbishing. Yes, Packer colors, two BIG "G"s on the dome and about 300 or so brats. So what kind of beer do I bring for the coronation of "Lucky Girl" :thumb::thumb:

Actually I was thinking two Packer helmets :-D

Nice job ! Personally I would mask some tiger stripes on it and paint the rest orange :p
