Default Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5, better cook grate?

Is there one? The one that comes with it isnt that easy to clean and is prone to rust, especially where I live (pacific coast, lots of salt air).

I don’t know of a better grate, but I live near salt water on the other ocean and mine don’t seem to rust. We just toss the grates from the 18” WSM our dishwasher when done cooking and store it in the smoker which is kept in our shed.

For my 22 I bought a poly tub at tractor supply to soak them in with hot water and a little dish washer detergent and they come out clean. This is the tub I use https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pr...l?cm_vc=-10005

My 22 , shown below, is 7 years old, but the grates still look pretty good.

Hope this helps, Chris

Maybe considered "uncleanly" but never do more than knock crud off my grates. Never had a rust problem.

I do the same with my kettle. Once the grate gets nice and hot I give it a light scrub with a ball of foil and start grilling.

Me either. I consider them "seasoned"
