Hello! New Rookie Here
Hello everybody. My name is Rich and as my handle implies I am from Indianapolis. For some reason I decided that I would begin to try to learn the art of smoking this summer. I did a good bit of research on what would be a good one to start with I actually had found one that seemed like it would be a good for me to learn on (and did not break my budget).
I was all set to go buy it and thought I would check one more place. That is when I ran accross the Brinkman Smoke King Deluxe for only $199. Well, that put a monkey wrench in my plans!! I saw some early in my research for quite a bit more. Anyway, trying to find information about them I stumbled across this site. What a great find!!! Anyway, thanks for have this place and for all the great advice many of you have posted. I just bought my BSKD but have not had a chance to get it out of the box yet !!! Anyway, I will begin my journey into the "Smoke" this summer and will try to let you all know how it goes... |

Welcome Rich. Lot's of BSKD owners here. Download and read the Bandera 101 from our home page if you haven't. http://www.bbq-brethren.com/index.php
That will get you started with a lot of good info. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and most of all get that cooker set up and cook.

Hi Rich! Welcome to the site and the wonderful world of BBQ!
Congrats on you purchase! You're in for some fun learning how to best use it and some great food! Do a quick search here and you'll find a lot of info on the BSKD and Bandera. Also, look at the Bandera 101 doc here on the site. it will give you a good starting point.

Thanks All
Thank you all for the greetings!!! Looks like I am the only one to represent the state of Indiana??? I have much to learn and little to share so far... Right now I am just trying to plan a time to cure my BSKD. I have two young'ns running around and try to keep them hurded in the yard most of the time I am at home. Most of my experience has been on a Weber Kettle that my dad had and passed along to me some years back.

Welcome Rich! As far as Indy, my wife and her family are from there. I also have a BSKD, and I love it. Just know that once this bug bites, your screwed! Make the baffle and the basket before you put your beast together, and you will really appreciate what this thing can do. Here are a couple of pics, and if you have any questions, just shoot me a pm. Also, DO NOT USE GALVANIZED PARTS!
