The plus side to those designs is easy searing. I’ll have to buy a special add on to sear on mine. Can’t have everything though.

With that said, I have located a FEC100 and I'm having a debate on if I should get it or not. This is probably not the right place to look for help...
Get it! I've had my FEC-100 for five-plus years and I love it! Talk about a big capacity in a small footprint. Several members here own FEC-100's, but not too much talk on the forum about them.

Here is a pic of mine from last year loaded down with eight 16 pound Turkeys!

If anyone is looking for cheap entry into the pellet world, Sams has the pit boss 700 on sale for $300.

Oof! That is a lot of bird...and one awesome pic!

I've got an excess of smokers on the back porch and I'm trying to consolidate. Getting the PG1000 has moved the Davy Crockett to backup and portable only duty. It's also taken the Jim Bowie out of service for the bigger cooks. The only reason I'm keeping the JB around at the moment is for smoking homemade sausage. The PG1000 just doesn't have enough room inside to smoke 25# of sausage. Now the FEC100 would do that no sweat, but then it seems a bit excessive to have that when I'll likely only use it a few times a year.

The capacity of the PG1000 is likely pretty good for the size of parties we throw, it'd fit 2 shoulders easily, but probably not two briskets. It came with a rib rack, so I could put quite a few racks on it. There's only the two of us in the family, so i'm not cooking for a horde. I don't really neeeeeeed the capacity.

But....I'd have a FEC100.

I seasoned mine even though it wasn't recommended. It didn't feel right not spraying pam.
Congrats!

Is there a second shelf option for the 440?

I can’t believe this thread is approaching 50 pages and almost always on the first page of Q talk. Looks like quite a few people are turning a new leaf
