Default Harvest Right Freeze Dryer

Not Q but food related for sure.

Did a quick search for Freeze Dryer and only came up with a thread from an honored Brethren in 2016.

Ordered in November and just received so nothing to report other than this is a quality item and I am pleased with customer service.

Nothing happens fast with this process but we will be trying it out this weekend.

Anybody else pick up one?

I’ve never even thought about a home freeze dryer before, but those do look pretty nice. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts and see what you do!

Greg from Ballistic BBQ has some good videos using that freeze dryer, pretty interesting, wish I had one to play with. https://youtu.be/9hUS_7YM8MA

So far MSD did two trays of scrambled eggs. Reconstituted some and fried up. Looked and tasted just like fresh scrambled eggs - better than fast food eggs for sure. We have chickens so they are fresh before freeze dried. Right now she has for trays of sliced zucchini that will be out tonight. These were from the freezer 2020 crop.

I try to get some pictures - She is going forward with this while I am work so I missed part of it.

There are lot's of videos on youtube.

I love freeze dried food. Freeze dried fruit, in particular, is a favorite snack. Last time I looked into home freeze drying, they were all too expensive. Clicked your link thinking "maybe they're smaller and more affordable now". NOPE.

I've checked those out too Neighbor. They would be handy!
Right now, a freeze dryer isn't top on my list of things I need.
I'll stick to canning, curing and drying for now.

Looking forward to seeing how you like it!

No meat yet but I am sure it is coming. Might be hard to FD a primal of Rib Eye!

In now is apples and Bananas. Picture don't show much?

The Zucchini was good dried but when reconstituted tasted like it was frozen which it was. Looking forward to doing this with fresh veggies.

Next up is either Ice Cream sammich's or Skittles - The grands are requesting!

MSD packaged up the Bananas and apples before I had a chance to snap a pic. They pretty much look the same but are very light. Apples are sweet and high apple flavor but a almost Styrofoam texture. Bananas are a little more solid texture and taste just like they did before freeze drying. The Grands requested Ice Cream sammiches so that is what is in now.
