heat flow rate

I found some insulation that has a flow rate of .06 btu/hr. x in./sq. ft. @ 800 degrees F. If anyone is in heating and a/c let me know if this is good. If it is I might buy. I know some have talked about insulating their smokers.

Assuming 800 deg. F is the delta, that equates to a heat loss of less than 200 Btu/hr for the smoke chamber. Of course the smoke chamber internal temperature is about 1/4 to 1/3 of that, so the heat loss would be proportionately less.

I would like to know more about the insulation you are considering. Got a link?

ok, I hijacked a thread.... Entitled once in a while.. I'm splittin this one to woodpile so everyone can rag the sh*t out of me and put this back on topic.

Heres the ONtopic response and picture.

Too much to think about.. This was my simple approach to insulating my Bandera last year. Lasted all winter and worked great. Just dont look to use the cushion come spring time. Had one on each side of the bandera except the door. Tied with sting around the smoke chamber. Simple, effective, and a fashion statement.
