You can "up" the flavors of beans by adding many items...
Country Style Sausage and Bacon are great meats to add. Left-over chopped rib tips, ham, even chopped kielbasa also work adding great flavors. But my favorite meat to add to beans is Speck, a dry cured smoked ham just exploding with great flavor. Simple items to boost flavors individually or in combination.... Chopped Onions Chopped Peppers Applesauce Chopped Apples Chopped Peaches Dry Mustard Powder Your Favorite Rub You are only limited by your imagination.. BossLady often takes a can of beans and adds:
- Minced Garlic - Minced Onions - Ketchup - Mustard - Molasses - Worcestershire Sauce - Dry Rub (typically what we've used for that given meal) Go crazy & enjoy!

I just did 2 # 10 cans drained one and half of the other added 2 packs of thick cut bacon cooked broken into different sized pieces drain most the bacon grease added 2 onions and 2 green peppers tell soft add katchup mustard to taste added almost a bag of dark brown sugar a bit of honey some of the bbq sauce you like and some rub you like. All to taste don't ever measure. I know it's good when everyone gives it a thumbs up. I always let rib drippings help out the flavor as well. Smoke for 2 to 3 hrs.

The word "beans" and the word "can" do not belong in the same sentence. Amazing how folks spend hour after hour prepping and cooking BBQ. but somehow balk at spending the same time with their beans. Time spent with beans is as rewarding as spending time with BBQ----give your side dishes love also
