As I've mentioned before we're doing a cook for the Former POW group of Ann Arbors annual picnic.
Brother Paul (pgn) will be helping me tomorrow and is doing 2 pork butts and making some broccoli slaw for the event.

Here is the 17 lb brisket I got today and got trimmed, injected and rubbed with Black Ops.
This thing was the most flexible I've ever gotten and when I was injecting it the injecting was squirting out places I didn't even cut. So I'm thinking this thin is gonna be real good

It's going on the Lang on a few minutes.
Thanks fer looking in and there's going to be many more pics to come

Great cook you are doing. There is nothing like cooking for these guys, in terms of appreciation they show, and how you feel when they are happy.

Thanks guys.
These are older gents, they range from 65-93 years old. At least the ones I met at their meeting last month.
I'm really looking forward to serving them tomorrow

Thanks for doing this, Dave! Have fun and knock it out the park!

You pic is busted, though...

Nice ninja edit ;)

BTW, got me some Genuine Michigan Maple Crack in the mail today!!!!

Thanks Billy!

Well the brisket is wrapped and going great!
Ribs are trimmed and the rub is going on.
Simply Marvelous Sweet Seduction, Spicy Apple and Cherry

Corn bread biscuits are also coming along, almost 1/2 way done

I know they aren't quite perfect, but I ain't a baker :tsk:

Good on you Dave! Thanks for supporting the troops.

What was your injection? Broth?

Thanks a lot guys, trying to get the pics off my phone.
Dang thing isn't agreeing today

Dawg I use broth with Kosmos reserve Brisket injection some real good stuff.

Today was an awesome day!
Not only did I get to meet brother Paul (pgn} but we had a great time at this event.
Paul cooked some butts which were really farkin good and we enjoyed the fellowship with the Former POWs and some of the members of Rolling Thunder, which is a Vet motorcycle club.

Pics coming as soon as I can get them moved

OK here's a few I could get

Here is the entrance to the picnic area with a color guard. The vets were drove back to the site on golf carts through here

Here is the food line

The members of Rolling Thunder

The group of Former POWs and the folks that help them in the support group

And a couple guys who think they can cook BBQ

Thanks fer lookin in

Awesome! That not only demonstrates the spirit of the Brethren, it demonstrates the spirit of what barbecue is really all about!

And 1 more pic that means a lot to me

This flag was given to me today and I was told I'm part of this group and am welcome to their meetings and any event they have.
I don't believe I've ever felt so honored to be a member of a group as I am today.

They are also sending me a POW flag

These are some of the greatest folks, hell I'm tearing up again

Dave what you are doing is awesome!! Hat's off to you Sir!!

This is so true!! Seeing the smiles on these folks faces was priceless
Paul and I also felt the same when they said thank you to us.......we didn't deserve the thanks, they did. We both replied thank you and glad you're enjoying this
