What's A Commercial Rub?
This thread about "commercial brisket" rubs got me to thinking (yeah, go figure). What constitutes a "commerical" rub?
To me anything I have to pay for is a "commercial" rub. Is this what everyone means when they say "commerical?" No matter how small the company is, if it's purchased it's commercial.

That's how I would define it.
If it's available in a grocery store or on-line and I have to pay for it, it's a commercial rub to me. So, get busy and test that commercial rub Todd's Dirt, will ya? I'm waiting....

I'll agree.
I've made rubs at home and given them away to friends and family. Now that it's produced and bottled in a commercial kitchen, i would say it's now a commercial rub.

I would say if the rub is mixed by a legitimate packer then it is commercial. If it is bottled at home and sold I would say that is illegal
