for Brethren!

Today I smoked a butt & packer brisket (full cook thread can be found here).

The butt:

& the brisket:

& my TD entry:

Brethren products used in the cook followed by (brethren name):

Rubs
Simply Marvelous Cherry Rub (Big Brother Smoke) - nice sweet rub with an incredible smell - used on the pork
Plowboys BBQ Yardbird Rub (Plowboy) - great all around rub - used on the pork
Plowboys BBQ Bovine Bold (Plowboy) - really nice on beef (I haven't tried it on other meats yet) - used on the brisket

Sauces
Big Butz Original (BigButzBBQ) - sweet sauce that seems be good on just about anything - used on the pork
Blues Hog Original/Tennessee Red - sweet thick sauce thinned down with the vinegary red sauce - used on the burnt ends & a little on the brisket sandwich

Injection
ButcherBBQ Brisket Injection (Butcher BBQ)
Mister Bob's pork injection recipe (with rub added) - not a commercial product but would like to give Mister Bob credit

Smoking Wood
Green Leaf BBQ Wine Infused Oak (Oakpit) - nice smelling smoke wood from the wine making process

Accessory
Frogmat (ribet69) - smoking mat used to allow the heat to flow around the burnt ends (instead of using a foil pan)

Thanks to all the brethren who produced these great products!

G'Day Bruces'

Well, here's my entry... the full thread can be found here.

I didn't have the brains to line up all the contributing condiments and rubs together with the finished dishes... so I'll just put in the photos I took with each of the usual suspects...

1. St.Louis Cut Spares with Simply Marvellous Spicy Apple Rub

2. Glazed with Big Butz No Butz Sauce:

3. Chicken wings with Simply Marvellous Pecan Rub:

4. Corn and Zucchini with Todds Dirt:

5: All the dishes prepared:

6: My TD Entry Shot:

As I mentioned in the thread... I could not have competed in this thread without the generosity of SmokeJumper, who brought all these ingredients over to me.

Also, Thanks to Mister Bob for his tutorial on St.Louis Cut.

Finally, thanks to Steph, Tom and Todd for producing such fantastic rubs and sauces. It makes BBQ'ing so much fun!

Cheers!

Bill

I wish I could help you there. I happened to win a bottle of Foil Hat Rub in a contest of skill and daring. I believe the owners of the company were thinking of going public and decided to give a few bottles out for promotional purposes. I've been trying to promote it every chance I get, but the more I promote, the more demand goes down. I believe the mod of this subforum should know where a supply might be found. At one time Bigabyte even suggested having "prizes" for the Throwdown winners. I would suggest that even a small sample of Foil Hat Rub, even a small baggie that would fit into a regular first class envelope would be a prize for a king. It is THAT good.

Master has been trying to duplicate the recipe for many months. The closest he came was reported here.

http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=84311

Unfortunately, someone must have contaminated the sample.

I've been wondering the history of Foil Hat myself. Search is useless since it is used in lots of threads. I'm still wondering.

Anyone looking for Foil Hat Rub, I will send some out to all interested parties. I have been promising to send some out to quite a number of folks for a while now, but an ungodly amount of financial things have come up, one horribly expensive thing right after the other, and I literally have not had the money to buy all of the ingredients because I have to prioritize all of my money elsewhere! Hell, I haven't had any for myself for a while now! Luckily, I have a massive stash of other Brethren rubs and stuff to keep me going for a long, long while. This financial burden will soon pass though...maybe a couple months or so. I'm gonna be making a big ass batch, that's for sure. I would sell it, but figure it will be even longer before I can make that happen (legitimately anyway), so that can wait for a bit too.

Wow, that means I might have the only supply of Foil Hat Rub in the entire world! I wonder what it is worth!

BTW, most of us are not shy about using Paypal. It's not like you're going to get rich, but it will at least cover your expenses and if you have a bit of business savvy, it may cover a rack or ribs every now and again.
