GRAVITYGUY the barrel looks good but It looks like you still need to get that tan liner coating out of there.

I'm making this for my Dad for Father's day. He's a Purdue grad and loves his boilers hoops. I had a blast making this one; only my second ever but I think it came out good. Need to add handles and a bottle opener but I'm basically done. Found a vinly car magnet on ebay that looks sharp.

I want to thank everyone for posting ALL this info about the UDS. I have seen bunches of you tube videos on the topic, and over time have read thru most of the postings in this MASSIVE thread, so now its my turn to post the "almost finished Harley Davidson themed UDS. I still have a few more things to do, but it was memorial day weekend, and it just HAD to be used. I need to repaint the lid with high temp orange yet, and dial in the controls, plus add a thermometer to it. I used one on the rack for the weekend cooks, which makes it a bit hard to dial in the temps, but overall it performed very well in both rain and HAIL...LOL. Here are the pics of Harley Davidson Ugly Drum Smoker, the food, and the hail:

Dont think there's any liner in there. Mine came out the same after a sand blast. Just has a coarse finish that's all. Is that right GRAVITYGUY???

Default Another DRUM is Born.....

Here are a few pics of my recent UDS build. I started working on it last weekend and finished it a couple days later. I was able to use it yesterday and with a few tweaks it worked flawlessly. Cheers!!!

The Drum. No liner...

The burn...

Burned out. The leaf blower did miracles...

The finished Drum...

Disassembled for easy cleaning...

Getting seasoned & then a few Brats & Country Style Ribs...

Thanks for looking!!!

Thanks!! That's the IQ110 Temp Controller. http://www.pitmasteriq.com/ I found that I had to almost close the ball valve or the temp would run up. The IQ110, once I had that part figured out, worked great. Cheers!!!

I finally read the entire thread and built my first UDS. I made ribs and a fatty(once I figured out what those were) and NO disappointments! Thanks for all the great detail that made it so easy on this tread.

Default 1st UDS pics

Here is my first UDS in it's "testing" phase prior to paint and refinement. I am having some trouble with maintaining temps @ 250F but I will keep working at it until I figure it out. Probably leaks around the hand hammered lid which I tried to seal with foil and vice grips....

I have lurked on this sight long enough, and have just built my second UDS, but needed a theme. I am associated with a Brew Pub in Wisconsin, and we brewed up a Kolsch this spring and it inspired me. Kolsch is typically served in a sleeve, or straight sided glass. Can you see where this is going . . .
The Brewery loaned me their Stencil, and the rest is history.

Thanks for all of the tips in these 600+ pages. I incorporated a number of them in this build.
