Got my el-cheapo thermometer from Amazon yesterday and threw it on today. Gonna fire it up Sunday to make some ABTs and chicken leg quarters for dinner. Looking forward to a day of smoking & beer drinking

Good job!
You're gonna love it!
They work so good it almost seems like a sin to fire up the larger smokers!

In the end it will be okay.
And if it's not okay, it's not the end.

Yea, that's cool. I need one of those.

"Need"......you know.......like I "need" it. Yes.

Well, I got her fired up this afternoon to have a go at my first ABTs. There was a slight learning curve, but I got everything dialed in eventually. Unfortunatly, the thermometer I put on there doesn't match up with my Maverick very well...not sure which is off but I'm going to guess the cheap Chinese thermometer is the culprit. Being my first ABTs, I went basic - sauteed some onions in garlic to mix in the cream cheese and stuffed and wrapped. On to some pr0n:

A couple of chicken leg 1/4s are going on for dinner, so stay tuned!

Dinner update:

Chicken 1/4s rubbed:

Mini WSM all set up:

Prepping the oven-baked fries:

Time to sit back and relax...here's the spot:

Pulling the chicken off:

Plated pictures (with leftover ABTs from the post above):

Not that anybody really cares, but the crappy Chinese thermometer seemed to be more accurate with tonight's cook.

I failed this weekend (a bit at least). Accomplished a lot but did not finish my MUDS. It is painted and almost ready for a burn out, but I still want to plumb it for a Guru (and need to cut down the fire basket (down to my last cutoff wheel).

That said, threw the old Brickman propane into a roll off, and rebuilt a Weber Silver B, so fairly productive weekend. Oh, also cooked St. Louis Ribs, Baby Back Ribs, Spatchcooked Chicken, and ABT's on the UDS while I worked. 3 separate meals, did not let the fire completely die (from beginning to end was 30hrs.), abet the coals were all but gone and I did need to hit it with the propane to liven it up for the ABT's that went on at hr 28.
