Can anyone tell me what the diameter of the charcoal grate on the Weber 26.5" grill is?

I'm looking for the charcoal grate diameter... not the grill grate diameter...

I looked around on the net, but can't get an actual diameter. Give Weber a call, I'll bet they tell you in nothing flat. Looking at the pictures, I'd be inclined to agree with Bludawg.

It depends on whether you have the older or newer grill. The older one is smaller and no longer available from Weber. The new one is 21 3/4" and the older one is about 19 1/2.

Thanks Hank... thats what I was looking for :)

Looks like you got your answer, but I can go measure if you want. Had mine for about 3 weeks and love it - lots of real estate! Been thinking of making some accessories and always looking for good ideas, what do you have in mind?

PS: the charcoal grate has a neat support structure kind of like an upsidedown suspension bridge running through the center to keep it from warping under heat. Really neat idea.

I'm trying to figure out why a 26.5" grill would have a grate that is 6.5" smaller than the grill? I'm missing something here.

The question is the size of the charcoal grate, not the cooking grate. The charcoal grate is near the borrom of the kettle and the charcoal sits on it.

It is the charcoal grate, not the food grate. The charcoal grate sits lower in the kettle where the diameter is much smaller than at the opening.

:doh: Sorry Boss if I had to guess I would say 22" based on the ratio on my SJ and 22 OTS
