Default Anyone ever cook on there kamado with a griddle?

Was at Sam's and saw a "Sizzle Q" Griddle, and thought oooo cheese steaks, or eggs... And my stomach started growling.

I am sure this thing would definitely not fit on the Akorn. So I looked on amazon and found this round version.

Anyone ever cook on there kamado with a griddle?

Is it worth it, or no?

Thanks,

Chris

I do. Griddle, Dutch Oven, Pizza Stone, Fry Pan, Saucier. If it fits in the Big Green Egg I'll cook with it in there. I like the subtle smoke flavor it gives to almost anything.

If I had a round one I might cook more on my kamado. The problem is if you have your dome lid open the fire tends to get out of control fairly fast. Thus, cooking on a griddle is one of the reasons I still have my gasser where I can turn the fire up or down and have a consistent even heat.

I've never used on a Kamado, but I use it on my weber kettle all the time! Philly cheesesteaks, chicken philly's, anything breakfast!!! A great tool for outdoor cooking!!! I absolutely love it and the cooking combos become endless! Deffinately a MUST buy you will not be disappointed!!!

I've cooked bacon, eggs and hash browns on my Akorn several times. The griddle from my old charbroil gasser fits perfect. Keep the lid closed as much as possible while cooking the bacon and hash browns and close the bottom vent a few seconds before you open the lid.

I made cheesesteaks and Schmitter's once. It worked very well. I don't have a round one but I have a XL egg so mine fit on there nicely.

Don't use too much charcoal or you will have an inferno since the lid will most likely be open quite a bit.

Ordered a cast round griddle from Academy that I use on my Akorn as a diffuser for low and slow or a griddle. A Weber rack fits for the second shelf. Just wrap in tin foil for diffuser use and no clean up.

Not only do I use griddles, but cast iron skillets and a cast iron biscuit pan.

Love cooking on the cast iron griddle on my kamado.

I looked at the griddle q online. Looks ok. What I do know is you can't beat cast iron. Great even heating with a price point you just can't loose.
