Default April fools 10 lb brisket

Put it on about 2 hours ago. I have not been able to get the stand for my UDS finished the way I want yet, so I cut a two inch wide ring out of a fire proof deck rug and put it on the stand and have the UDS sitting on it. Since I have had some temp control problems and thought they came from maybe to much intake sneaking inbetween the bottom of the drum and the stand I thought that the weight of the drum might give me a better seal. Seems to have worked!! Went nicely to 230, put the brisket on and ten minutes later it was back to 233 and has been holding ever since. Yahooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course more pron to follow this evening!

I had seen those mats and was thinking Egg gasket myself. The ones at lowes had a rubberized non skid backing. The ones at Big Lot did not.

10 hours and into the cooler it went. No pron, it does not count as pron if it is in foil does it?????

The UDS held at 230-235 the whole time!!!! Foiled at 170 and coolered at 197. Cannot wait to give it a taste. I think my temp problems might be solved.

The mat I used was from Lowes last year. Don't know if they have the same type this season.

Gonna separate the point so I can cube and put back on for BBEs tommorrow.

Throw some towels or a something in that cooler to take up space. Helps to keep the temperatures up.
