Default custom built santa maria style grill

my custom made santa maria bbq just put the new elk topper on for decoration what do you guys think... I would like to see some of the designs the rest of the members put on there grills

Pardon the ignorance but what is a Santa Maria grill? What is its claim to fame?

Nice art work there.

Santa Maria style grills are basically grills designed for direct grilling, with an adjustable grate system, usually a set of cables that use an overhead crank system to raise and lower the grates over a coal bed. Typically, Santa Maria grilling is done over a bed of coals derived from burning down red oak splits.

I like to burn oak sometimes but mostly use mountain mahogany

claim to fame would be they are the ultimate tri tip cooker and anything else I have put on it
