Default deal or not joe oklahoma longhorn

I just bought a used joe oklahoma longhorn for $144. Is this a good deal or not? Its in good condition with some rust in the smoker box. Should I sandblast it smooth or just apply some oil on it? How do you guy keep it from rusting?

TIA

sounds good. Is it the welded model ? I think the newer ones are bolted together. Don't know I can't keep the firebox lid on my Smokemaster Offset from rusting.

The smoker box and the smoke chamber is bolted. I read several site said to use oil on the outside as well to seasoning it. I don't know much as this is my first smoker.

Even though you have them newer (cheaper) model, it can still crank out some good que. If you keep on top of oiling the firebox it will keep looking nice, but it is a continuous maintanence on this cooker.

I don't believed this is their newest version. It seen to be very well build and heavy. I told 4 guys to get it on a truck bed.

You definitely got a deal. That doesn't look bad at all. Nice score!

Not a bad smoker for the money but they do eat a ton of fuel.
