I am in need of a new set of flavorizer bars for my Genesis, and have decided to go with stainless. The Weber ones are a bit expensive ($70), and I found some on Amazon for quite a bit less ($40). The seller on Amazon is "Direct Store Parts", and I couldn't find any reference to them here among the Brethren. Have any of you bought from them and know whether there stuff is reliable? Can anybody speak to their flavorizer bars in particular? I know it isn't a high tech item, but I also know there are different grades of stainless, different thicknesses, and that I don't know enough to tell them apart on the seller page or once they get here either. Any help appreciated.

Here's a link to the ones I'm looking at.

The reviews are better on these if they fit:

I rebuilt a Weber Genesis Silver B using these types of parts. The only thing I found was that the edges were very sharp!. I hit all the edges with a file while wearing Leather gloves. After about a year, they are rusty looking, but otherwise have held up well.

Make sure you do a "burn in" and get all of he manufacturing oils off. (350 deg F. for at least 30 min.)

I checked, I got mine from amazon, The seller was "River Edge Products" They were 16 gauge. Again, they have held up very well.

I bought these for my Weber Summit on Amazon from Rivers Edge Products. Much thicker and overall better quality than my original Weber's.

There’s an eBay seller “rcplanebuyer” that sells better than OEM flavorizer bars.

After doing a little research, I think these are probably the best thing out there. Unfortunately, being a little strapped for cash right now, I might still pick up the ones from River Edge. The only thing that concerns me is Smoking Cajun's comment that his are rusty looking after a year. Makes me think the grade of stainless they use isn't actually up to the high temps of a grill.

They had a slightly rusty coating on them. I think that because they are right on top of the burners, that this is normal. There are no holes and they were still very strong and sturdy.

Mine are rusty as well, but no holes and they have lasted a lot longer than the original Weber’s.

There are 20 gauge ones out there, and 16 gauge ones. Definitely go for the 16 gauge.

BTW, I found that the grill ran hotter with the stainless flavorizer bars.

I ordered some off Craigslist from a guy out of Louisville, KY that has a fab shop maybe 4 years ago and they have been great might check that out and see if he is still making them

Even high end stainless steel wont stay shiny under extended high heat. It's designed to be rust resistant but it will discolor. I can attest to this personally after buying very expensive stainless exhaust headers for my Mustang. No rust but they didn't stay pretty for very long. I'm sure grill components are the same. My stainless Vortex is quite ugly now but works like a champ.

I used them one time on my Weber Spirit 320. The one I purchased got dirty quick as they all do. My problem was when they got red hot. I had to wonder what else maybe going to the grill beside heat. That's just my experience. Went back to the porcelain enameled ones after that.

Went with SS grates too. It sure was pretty.
