Mini Egg Question
Okay I am thinking on getting a mini egg this weekend. Since getting my 1st Lg. egg this year, I have really got attached to the Ol’ gal. I think the mini will be a nice addition for small cooks for 2 or 3.
For those who have a mini, how do you like yours? Pros and Cons

i like my mini, but it will NOT cook for 2 or 3. It cooks for one. It will fit 2 small burgers or one steak, or 2 chicken breasts. A london broil wont fit, but a porterhouse fits perfectly.

you might want to hold out for a mini with a spring assist hinge. i will upgrade my mini when those hinges come out.
it will cook for more than one if you put the right food on it... |

I've only done a coupe of cooks on my mini, but I like it. I think cooking for two is possible, but it depends on the meat. It can fit two strip steaks or two chicken breasts or a half dozen brats, but as Phil pointed out only on t-bone or porterhouse, and maybe one bone-in pork chop.

i'm not sure. the only people that would know for sure are at the headquarters in atlanta. it's still a great cooker with the locking hinge, but a spring assist hinge will make it even better.
and i meant the mini will feed more than one "normal" person. |

An egghead by the name of ClayQ has posted pictuures of his mini for years and I have been close to pulling the trigger on one many times. Burried in my BGE folder is a 9" diameter circle I cut out of paper to represent the cooking grid. It's bigger than you think it might be, but might be smaller than you want it to be.

Just got an answer from the mothership about the spring assist hinge - they hope to have it available in January -
FWIW -that was from Bruce Bohannon in Customer Service. Damn, so much for my Christmas present (well, one of them anyhow - the cast iron grate for the large is available ) |

I love my mini. I use it alot. It's a steak machine. I use it to smoke a couple of fatties, abts, MOINKs, wings or armadillo eggs. I can adjust the temps very well with my wood block that I use, cause I don't have a daisy wheel.
