Pig Daddy
Full Fledged Farker
We Northern Illinois Brethren met at Real Urban BBQ located in Vernon Hills, Il.
I was impressed with the décor and ambiance. Very casual and rustic. The service is cafeteria style, which allows you to pick and choose as you are guided throughout the line. First comes meat, then side, dessert and drink.
I love the BBQ Bar concept. If you so choose, you can sit and eat while watching food prep in front of the dual smokers.
A mound of brisket!
A mound of shoulder!
Our deal included three meats, two sides and a pop. I chose burnt-ends, pork and chicken. And it was fresh to order - pulled in front of me. Gotta love that!
Here's how it went down. No skimping here. The BBQ was delicious.
Beans.
Mac.
The company - a room full of Brethren!
Then we were invited to take a tour. Here's a partial shot of the meat locker.
The Pitmaster.
The twin smokers.
I will definitely be going back there. The BBQ was fresh, the restaurant was very clean and the service was next to none.
All in all, aside from the weather, it was fantastic day seeing familiar faces. I look forward to this gathering every year! A big thanks to Ron L for organizing.
Oh, and, after much debate :decision:as to whether the wife would kill me, or not - I ended up picking up a drum from oifmarine2003. Boy, she's gonna be mad. I gotta stop hanging out with Gbane.
