Disagree with "not much profit.". Lines are out the door about every day he's open. For a single location, I'd imagine his profits are something a lot of other restaurants would he jealous of.

That goes against everything he believes in, and he’s expressed that explicitly in many interviews. He doesn’t believe he could maintain standards that way either.

I say bravo to him, there’s a place for chains and a place for independents.

It’s really an interesting phenomena. Country BBQ has moved uptown.
For years - decades really, I bemoaned the lack of decent BBQ around Cincinnati. Now the things are everywhere. Not many of them are super good, and not a damn one is a reasonable facsimile of a Texas brisket or sausage joint, but you can get decent BBQ all over town now.

It's about time.

My first thoughts were, “He’s talking about Dickey’s”

Oh hell no. Dickeys has good jalapeno cheddar sausage. That's it.

Eli's. Just Q'in. Jim Dandy's. Pontiac. SmoQ. A dozen others, many of which are not on this map because they don't pay Google.

I think many people here would find it interesting if they actually listened to the podcast.

After seeing this post, I did. It's 41 minutes long where they very clearly lay out what they know as fact from multiple sources (they did not present it unless they had multiple sources).

Then they clearly listed what they believed it the info they have verified might mean. They very clearly repeatedly differentiated between what they knew as fact and what was conjecture.

It was actually a very balanced and well done podcast.

Having been in corporate marketing/PR for many, many, many years, I put zero faith in almost any statement released by a company when they are asked about something they are not ready to talk about as they want to control messaging and timing.

Also interesting to note the podcast people - well know here in Texas - reached out to Franklin repeatedly before going on the air and received no response. I would think were this truly a "fake news" issue as people now a days like to throw around, they would have taken advantage of the opportunity to set the record straight either prior to or on the podcast. Then it's a non-issue.

Based on the info presented (not the parts they clearly label as conjecture), there is something big going on at Franklin.

What's going on with him building smokers to sale? Haven't heard much lately about that.

Don't know. I only recently heard about them and signed up for email updates on his website around a week ago. No emails received on my end so far.
