I was thinking of doing this contest and was wondering... The flyer says the proceeds go to the USO - which is very cool - but are there payouts at this one or is it pretty much a charity thing? If it's a charity deal I think I could take up a collection to help defray the costs of competing. 250 bucks entry is starting to put this kind of stuff out of my reach but I'd like to participate if it's for a good cause.

Edit: added link for those interested

I guess you didn't read the application that you linked to.

"Indicate how award checks shold be made out to your company"

Anyway, thanks for posting. This is one that I've thought about, but now see that it conflicts with something else I have going that weekend."

Hmmm..., Evelyn Wood has failed me again, lol!

I am thinking of doing this competition. How does everyone like it? I can only afford to do a limited number of events so I need to pick them wisely. How do you guys like this event?

Since you kicked my butt last comp out, id say I hate it you shouldn't go!!

Seriously though, the family had a great time at this one, Tom puts on a nice comp.

If we can afford to do any this year this is one we would be in for, its also for a great cause.

Dont forget they have the biggest trophies Ever, not that we get any but they are impressive standing there...

Cool thanks. I think I will try to get in on this one. Its only 2 hours from my house.

@ Goddahavit (Eric, right? - sorry I am terrible with names)...
That was beginners luck. Plus I am not cooking on the BWS anymore so we will see what happens.

Payouts at this one are pretty decent. Tommy is good at arranging sponsors.

Very nice site in Bucks County, PA. Nice level field, right next to neat little fair. The musical acts were a little wacky, in a fun way. We had a good time last year when it was a Brethren event. Tommy mentioned that he wanted to switch to KCBS this year.

We will most likely be there again this year.

Hmmmm, we dont have anything scheduled that weekend.........might look into this one, thanks for the info!!
