Default KAT Vault Build For My Folsum Customer

Thought I would bring you guys through the build of a 48x24 Insulated Vault
  • Made from 12 gauge steel
  • 1" of Ceramic 8 Density insulation
  • Intake 2" Ball Valve
  • ThermoWorks DOT For Thermometer
  • Fiberglass Silicon With Stainless Inner Gasket Cook Chamber Door
  • Fiberglass Gasket Firebox Door

Outside shell


Inside and outside shell


Inside shell welded


Putting the inside and side together


Spot welded inside to outside shell




Internal sub frame on bottom of Vault 2" of insulation here (Bottom Only)






Bottom all welded and ground down for a seamless look


Insulated sidewalls


Internal sub frame for the top of the Vault


Insulated top




Top all welded and ground for seamless look


Inside all done ready to set the doors


Time to sandblast and paint



Now all we need is a coal basket and sliding ash pan

Wow. This is beautiful. It seems to me that insulated verticals are much more harder to build than stick burners. Would you say that is true?

Very nice smoker. That unit would compete with any of the other cabinet smoker builders. Some of them could take a lesson on that easily replaceable silicone gasket as well as the firebox/ash pan. I also really like the latches.
