Do you know how hard it is to find a rack like that?

For color only, the top pic gets my vote only because they are more of the same color.

The bottom pic has a lot of different "colors/shades" as it were.

The rib on the right in the bottom pic looks nice.

funny, i was just on the critic today after a long while and saw both of these.

personally i think the top pic shows more finesse and from the pic more appealing. one would get an 8 and the other a 9.

how they each taste ..well only the six know.

Absolutley I do, that is why I put such a premium on them.
Competition BBQ includes purchase, preperation, handling, flavor profile and presentation.
I give 9's, lots of them, but you have to earn my score of excellence.
I'm not a 7,8,9 judge, average is a score of 6.

The first box I would expect to taste like Blues Hog candy, and hope to be able to taste the meat.

The second box I would think would have a more complex taste profile and maybe allow the meat flavor to shine through.

The first box scores higher on presentation, the second box is a little gloppy.
Ed
P.S. Ain't nothin bad about dry rib presentations or just a light even glaze.

Based on color? I like the top one better.

I agree ribs with straight bones and lots of meat are hard to find. But it's worth shopping around for.
