It'll change your life when you get rid of the old style and go with the spring assist hinge! Mine had the old style and the first thing I did was replace it! I kicked myself in the a$$ when I trashed it after it sat around the garage for a year, because I found a clay K with a rusted off band. DOH!

Repost but figured I should also post here.
The reason I asked is I have seen what you posted but not this. When you lift lid it locks/catches. To lower you have to raise lid, push lever down and lower lid.
