I could deal with a weekly vegetarian day. I really like Portobello burgers. Those black bean burgers that Costco has are pretty good too. I'm sure I could come up with other veggie recipes. It would be an interesting exercise.

Coffee with caffeine is not negotiable.

Is there nothing sacred? Doesn't one of the commandments forbid taking away someone's coffee? It should be if it isn't.

well if we all went to meatless Mondays- Imagine the price of pork and beef. It would drop like a rock and we could pick up more packers for Tuesday!!

There appears to be some green crap on your plate...you can use a rib bone to swipe it off without having to touch it! LOL.

In all seriousness, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world for us either...one day a week isn't the worst thing.

No coffee is.

Good luck man!

As my son so wisely said: "If we love animals so much then why are we eating their food?".

In all seriousness, I don't mind mixing it up once in a while. I do not like having edicts issued to me, but at the same time my wife was right when she pointed out that I needed to lose weight - and I didn't listen to her until the doctor told me the same thing. I did lose weight - on a diet of meat and vegetables.

Maybe you can tell her you'll keep an open mind as long as she does. You can start by defining tri tip as salad. I tried it last night and it went smoothly.

Beer is just water, barley, and hops. I see nothing resembling meat there.

Thank Goodness It's Tuesday. Brisket in PBC at 1100.

I appreciate all the moral support. I've actually lost from about 290 to 225 from what I DONT eat over the last two years. No flour no sugar no processed foods. But the last couple of months (football season) out come the chips, the wings, the Mac and cheese etc etc.

Meat, beans, greens, veggies, fruits and raw almonds and cashews. And lite beer. Occasional real beer but 90% lite. Backyard Q-ing fits wonderfully with this style of patio cooking and diet.

I mean, how can it be a diet when as long as you don't eat crackers you can have four bowls of chili?? Same for big steaks and a ton of veggies as long as you skip dessert?

I don't know. Lots of ways of getting to the finish line :-))

Whoa... it looks like something green is growing on your plate. That can't be safe. If I've learned anything here... "when in doubt, throw it out!"

Default 4 hour mark- 147 IT

4 hour mark and Doing well. Winds to 30+ and was 26 Degrees when I hung the brisket. It has warmed a tad, but the winds are terrible. I pushed the coals over when I checked IT and snapped photo. 75% B&B Brick and 25%Ozark Oak lump with a tennis ball size chunk of Pecan.
