I am more interested in the hopper unit it self. The unit has the same one they sell by themselves for the DIY people, right?

Yep! Funny story... the guy I sold it to asked me if we could meet up real quick so he could buy it. He said a hog needed to be on it in 3 hours. I don’t think he ever smoked a hog before or much of anything. When I asked him if he needed some splits to cook with he said “oh you cook with wood on this thing” lol

Lightly oiled it down and did the seasoning. It took 3 minutes for the first pellets to hit the burn pot and 10 minutes from the time i set the temp to get to 350. Once at the set temp it runs +/- 4 degrees. Let it run at 350 for 30 minutes per instructions.
Auger is dead silent. Only sound is the fan. Got stuff to do today so I'll cook the fatty and beef ribs tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

That’s One of the reasons I’m getting back to pellets. I want to cook more often.

Ditto! A huge reason for my return to pellets. I am able to cook outdoors WAY more often. I was also able to rediscover my love for pellet grilled/smoked food (I had a US made Traeger back in the day).

How does this compare to the similar RecTec model? Or a GMG option?
Or is this like comparing Backwoods and Humphrey's insulated models?

1) forget the dark side bit, I consider it enlightened.
2) only problem is wife can find things for you to do and you do not have to baby set a stick burner. 3) Pellet or not, people love my cooking!
