Foodsaver has some good specials right now. I love mine.

I got my foodsaver recently at Costco for maybe $150 - great deal. We love the machine. It even has a blast marinating option.

They've both got good reviews. The Platinum seems to come with better extras and takes up less counterspace.

Boy is this true. I originally had just the little hand model. When a countertop full sealing model was discontinued I got an email - it was being sold for 29.95 - originally over 100 (Can't remember exactly).
