Is this wood good for Smoking!
Found this on CL. 1/2 red oak, 1/2 pecan cut in September.
3x24 stack for $100. Is this a good deal? Or am I better off finding some all ready split up? |

Great wood for smoking. Price wise-not sure cause i don't know what a 3x24 means.Wood is usually sold in cords or 1/2 cords around here.

Red oak and pecan are both great for smoking. You may want to let it season more. As for the price, it would be a great price here in SoCal, don't know if it's good for your area.

A cord is 4' high, 4' deep, and 8' long = 128 cubic feet
You need one more measurement to determine how much is there.

Th stack is 3ft x 24 ft. Random length logs. He said he just cut a Bradford pear too that I could have as well for that price.

I would go for that, will you have to sort out the pecan and oak?

A lot of the pieces in the pic would be hard to split because they are small, but could easily be chipped for smoking. Your looking at just under a full cord for $100. I would go for it.

Assuming that it is cut into approx. 20" lengths, and it looks like it is, you'd have 126 cubic feet, so just shy of a cord. Sounds like a good deal to me, but you may need to let it season a little while longer.
