i had a few red jalapenos in the garden and thought i'd smoke em with hickory and jack daniels oak barrel chips, then toss em on the food dehydrator and eventually make chipotle powder. i think i'll food saver and freeze a few whole. first time trying this.........

if you smoke and dry them, do you have to freeze them?
I buy them smoked and dried but have never seen them frozen

Getting ready to try the same thing. Gonna watch this thread closely.

I might try that myself:biggrin:

Let us know how they turn out Rick, I have a few jap plants myself and was wondering if smoking them was a good option........even those fiery lil boogers look good on your grill

this was at 2.5 hours...

Man, those look great!!!!! Might have to try that myself. How do you think habaneros would do?

Only about 21.5 hours to go:wink: ....what temp you doin that at?
somewheres around 250... i'm considering letting them go all night in the egg, cause there's way to many for the dehydrator. i reckon i could use the oven

looks good! Where'd you get get the jack daniels oak barrel chips? I love my J.D.

after 4.5 hours, into the dehydrator they gooooooo!
