Thanks for all your work Ron!

I've been actively thinking about this too.

Its the BBQ angle that keeps messing me up. MyGrain (get it) brewing in downtown Joliet has a wonderful side room that would be perfect for us. Unfortunately, they are similar to Hopvine Brewing in Aurora, which also has the perfect space, in regards to they are a gastro pub and have their own food.

I wondered if we could get their space and then cater from Baby Back Blues up the street, but I can't see that happening.

We spoke at the picnic about Firewater BBQ. We have one here in Crestwood, the central one in Lombard, but that is a no go for me as well after our talk. Just bad karma.

Expanded my search to see about tap houses that have food trucks. With a little coordination, we could have possibly pulled this off as we wouldn't have the gastro pub angle to deal with. Although I found the guys at Werkforce Brewing would be very easy to work with, getting the truck at the time and head count would be a challenge. They have a rotation of trucks and we could have easily had the BBQ truck there that day, but the head count metric is tough. I have looked into food trucks for different occasions and its a guaranteed minimum issue, so I get it.

As you can see, I'm actively thinking of this too, to help out in the process like the old days.

Getting harder in the Chicagoland area to find: seating for 80 separate from rest, BBQ, without minimums.

Makes RUB in Oakbrook look very appetizing, again, but I'll keep searching to assist you.

Thanks Bill! I have a few options in the western burbs that i am looking into as well. I like the idea of a brewery with an event space and bringing our own catering or a food truck. I looked at the Wekforce web site and they want $350 for 3 hours for their space

What about just getting space at an American Legion or VFW and doing a pot luck?

Werkforce was more of a, we show up and drink/eat, idea. We wouldn't have needed to rent the whole place, there is room for everyone. Its a beer hall. We would just "gather" at one end, but would coordinate with the owners on the food truck. (they are the end cap of the place you came to my wedding at Warehouse 109).

Regardless, far far south suburbs are less than ideal, but I was looking just for the fact we haven't had one down this way. We're more highly concentrated west and North anyway.

You know, I never thought of the VFW/AFL type place.

I know of a couple in Aurora, there are obviously some by you, where we could do a combo. Have a Brethren luncheon, and also invite the local veterans whose home hall we are renting.

Interesting possibilities

I guess I was focused on a private space for us rather than just showing up :). That would make logistics easier. I would worry that if they had a busy day there may not be enough room.

I sent John at Steamboat a message. I can contact CCK, but they tend to be pretty expensive.
Not necessarily those, they were just a couple small joints with good que I thought of off the top of my head.

I understand. I had contacted John this morning since we’re friends and I know that he has good food.

Put me down for one. Hope they get some decent beer by the time we get there. Looks like all they have right now is crappy IPA's and stouts. :tsk:

May have to sneak in some vodka to mix with the lemonade...

The chili pepper ale sounds interesting!
