what are the total points you can receive in each category for KCBS? i know appearence is out of 15, but taste and tenderness?

i believe it is 180...
all 6 judges giving you 9's across the board. (appearance, taste and tenderness)

Michelle's right...180 is the top score per category (except the top 5 of the 6 scores get counted 36 (9/9/9) x 5 judges = 180)

In KCBS judging, a perfect score is a 180 per category. Each of 6 judges scores each entry on Appearance, Taste, and Tenderness. Appearance scores have a weighting of .5714, Taste scores have a weighting of 2.2858, and Tenderness scores have a weighting og 1.1428. If a judge scores a 9 (on a scale of 1-9) in each of those criteria, the score would equal 36 points. The lowest score is thrown out so your maximum score on an entry is 5 judges times 36 points or a 180.
