Dave have you been to Detroit?
Crazy farkers will shoot you for not having enough money. Not like nyc where they leave you with cab fair. I agree 100% carrying means you have to be willing to use it, I'd defend my family with my life but not my wallet.

In the year 2000. I was shot point blank with a Glock 45 in the chest.....That was before CCW was an Option. By the Grace of God My Life was Spared as I was able to walk my daughter down the isle and hold my Grandchildren after they were born.....
I can tell you that the Perp that shot me had no problems with killing me.... As soon as CCW was an option I got mine.... I truly feel that if it was not an option I would not have spend all the weeks in the ICU that I did.... I say carry it Condition One One Before you open the door leave your place of Business because these idiots have no regard for Human Life when they think they can get money from you.

Well, this is not the thread for this discussion. This is about Jeremy not being able to cook enough meat to stay open past 6:30pm and that he should have listened to BBQ Bubba.
That being said, both the restaurant, the gun shop and when I had my old firm, the rule was nobody left after hours alone. If you are worried about being accosted, keep your team with you, pay them a little extra and use numbers.

Carry only if you practice enough to feel confident using it.

So, I nearly cut my thumb off tonight. It's ironic because I was talking with my new cook tonight and he was explaining how the only time he's ever cut himself is when he gets distracted talking to people while cutting. So, tonight I'm slicing brisket for a customer and he's at the window chatting about how he also went to MSU. Of course, by conversing with him while slicing I must have lost focus and about sawed my thumb off.
Nothing like a super sharp serrated knife sawing through the top of your thumb down to the bone to end the night. Left a massive trail of blood through the restaurant and we eventually got it wrapped tight enough to temporarily stop bleeding through towels. Going to wait until tomorrow when I unwrap it to see if it's possible it will close on its own or if stitches or something else. I'm guessing it will, but I'll probably just super glue it shut. Otherwise, a great week, a good day today, and lots of new customers as well as plenty of regulars who come in every other day or so. I have to say, it's really cool to have people who come in all the time and getting to spend some time to get to know them, talk BBQ, etc. More importantly, can't wait for my one day off tomorrow. Of course my wife is also off due to the holiday and she has a whole list of errands for us to run. Oh well. I can sleep when I'm dead. |

Day off???
Get that thumb stitched up before it gets infected and your not able to work! I think being so new that i'd use my day off to get AHEAD of some of the problems you've been experiencing. Looking forward to getting over there soon!

Stainless steel butchers gloves. Your 9 other fingers will thank you. As an owner it is almost impossible to do anything uninterrupted. You are going to be distracted no matter what you're doing. Get the gloves.
