Default Must have eggcessories?

Man there's a bunch of guys using eggs in here!

Moving to ATL next week - gonna pick up an XL as soon as money allows. Wondering what everyone recommends in regards eggcessories. Followed by where to get them

Almost as excited to get the Egg as I am to move to ATL

Plate setter and an ash tool to get started. I'm not familar with the XL. I have heard that they made some improvements over the earlier model. Not sure what the adjustments were. Alot of eggers choose a large and small over the XL. XL the grate is closer to the coals and the dome height isn't as high as the large I believe. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that's what I've read.

Oh, and order a grate lifter from Thirdeye. It's my most used eggcessory.

Other than the snow, the crazy a55 cold weather, traffic, insane house prices, and falling bridges, why would you want to leave MN for the ATL?

Yep, the platesetter and XL ash tool are a must. There really isn't much else you can do with the XL. The dome is really shallow so it will be tough to use an extra rack.

Is there a post listing them?

tell you what, his grill lifter is truly a grate, I mean great tool. I use mine a lot.

If you order one maybe he can make a wiggle stick for a little extra cash. Also a neat tool especially for longer cooks.

you definitely need the plate setter.

You can make your own plate setter with ceramic tile if you want to save a few bucks. You really do not need any accessories, now want is another subject. I have a large BGE. I have 13"x13" tiles to use as a plate setter, You can get some 3-1/2" long 1/4-3/8" bolts plus fender washers and raise your grill up further from the coals too.

I would say "just get the large BGE as a minimum" and once you get it, play around with it for a while and then figure out what you need. remember the plates setter allows you to cook using a pan as well as blocks some heat to allow you to do a low and slow smoke.

ou can get way more accessories for the Large. And if you ever want to transport it, the XL is a beast. Like I said, alot of eggers have a large and either small or medium. You can cook quite a bit on a large. Just do your homework. Being in Atlanta, you will likely have more access to used eggs. Look at Eggtoberfest and the prices for demo eggs. They are marked down to good prices.

get the large lots of accessories. i went with a large first was thinking of getting a small .. but after some thought. i picked up another large.its great when you want to have big parties and cook a lot of different stuff at different temp. not saying the small or med are bad but for me the 2 large work best..that part would be up to you..and when its just me and my wife the large isn't to big...

Please, PLEASE don't forget the 'Diddler'... I have found that it is required for a long cook where sleep may be desired...

Unfortunately, They haven't made a lot of accessories for the XL....yet. There are many for the large, but since the XL is still fairly new, you'll have to wait for the cool stuff. Me....I say get a cast iron food grate, place setter, and a BGE pizza stone. The ash tool is fine, but I find a shop vac is faster and easier. Be sure the filter is in place...or it will be a mess.
