Default Uds!!!!

Finally finished the UDS I've been working on for over a year. Took her on the maiden voyage today. Started at 7 AM got her up to 185 capped one vent, let her cruise on up to 215, closed the ball valve half way cruised in to 225, been within 15 degrees ever since.

Put on a Pork Butt rubbed with SM Pecan, IT at 155 right now.

If you are thinking about a UDS, or have one halfway finished and haven't worked on it in a while, get it finished!! This thing is amazing. Really, really easy!

Pics to follow!!

Mike

I wanna see a picture of a UDS that takes a year to build.

Congratulations on getting it up and smoking.

Well, kind of got lazy for about 11 and 1/2 months.

Bad thing is, I still have to paint the lid, since it rained here yesterday, I also have to wire brush the lid again, before I can paint it!!

I'll post some pics when the butt comes off.

Mike

Glad to hear you finished it. Mine still isn't complete either, but it is done enough for me to use. I still have some tweaks to make, i.e. side table or cart, re-paint the outside (did a crappy job late fall just to get going), hinged lid, etc.

Congrats and I totally understand on it taking a while to complete. It's taken months for me to be 90% complete(close enough to cook though). My time I get to spend in the garage is limited.

Congrats!!! I have been working on mine pretty steadily for the last couple of weeks. I say steadily but really it's only been a couple of hours (if that) a day. I'm working tweaks now like wheels and maybe a side shelf. I got it to the point of being able to season it but haven't cooked on it yet. I too was impressed at how well they hold temp steady. I'm looking at doing my first smoke this weekend but not sure cause the in-laws are coming in and not sure what our plans are. Congrats again.

Congrats! IMO they're the best home-built patio size smokers.
