Default the TV show BBQ Pitmasters

I got into competitions because of the TV show BBQ Pitmasters. I know the show is off the air, bummer, but I am wondering if anyone knows if there will be any new BBQ shows on television this season. Please let me know.

Thanks,

I do not believe there are any current bbq competition style shows on. They have been replaying most seasons of pitmasters and smoked recently. However there is Man Fire Food and Burgers Brews and BBQ, while its not the same they are still pretty cool.

These aren't full seasons, or technically about competition barbecue, but there are some good options on Netflix:

1. Barbecue, which is a documentary about "barbecue" across the globe, and it's fascinating to see how it fits into the local cultures. This is not 100% barbecue, but really cooking with fire.
2. Ugly Delicious, one episode is focused on barbecue, which TMBBQ did not express much pleasure in the actual episode.
3. Chef's Table, episode with Francis Mallman, which is always fascinating to watch him in his element.
4. Mind of a Chef, where I think it's Edward Lee's season where he visits Francis Mallman and cooks with him

I watched about 8 episodes and I found I was forcing myself to watch the next one. They are making a 2nd season right now and from what I'm seeing on Facebook it looks like it will be a better overall production.
This must be one of my grumpy days... I enjoy the show pretty much but I got tired of watching the same guys win all the time. Maybe it was all of the zillion dollar motor homes and Jambo cookers. Not saying I resent all of that..wife and I could have done all of that if we wanted, it just shows you we all have our priorities. As a backyard Texas bbq cooker, I wonder if all those briskets they braise in au jus would meet my taste expectations for brisket as opposed to roast beef. I know it is competition cooking and not made to be eaten more than a couple of bites.... blah blah...I just must be in a bad mood today.

Smokelandia, a new pilot on the cooking channel. Hosted by Texas Monthly's Daniel Vaughn.

Did anyone watch this show? I liked the format and the host did a great job finding good restaurants. That pork belly looked awesome.

I hope they pick up the show, I think it's worth watching.

Honestly, never liked BBQ Pitmasters...and frankly, I don't care for Myron Mixon, the guy comes across as a pompous @$$.

I don't know what he does in competition to win all the time, but he doesn't teach the folks at his restaurants his techniques, because frankly, when I was in GA and made it a point to visit his restaurant in Braselton, it was mediocre at best.

FYI

National BBQ League. This first one kind of lays out the comp essentials. The episodes coming up focus more on team interaction and the cooking lifestyle. I hope you enjoy it. It’s a work in progress and is evolving a bit as we go.

I watched a few of his shows and it's like foo-foo bbq. He doesn't cook most of the dishes, has a crew to lite fires, do the cooking and he shows up when the director says "action". I like the recipes and different cooking styles they show but as a pit master he's not.

Reminds me of the treager infomercials.

Just my 2
